It's perfect because it isn't a place where you can stay for long and still enjoy. It's perfect because it's only a 3 days stay and you get to put up rush hour action for all the wonderful things in Kelantan.
The trip was a blast.
The 7hr car journey was nothing compared to my routine trips to PJ, I dare say. And being back reminds me of the good old days when I was still *cough* young *cough*. It struck me that I can never go back to the past again. Not to my old-self, not to my old personality and not to my old places. It saddened me all of the sudden - the fact that I've grown and had moved forward and I wonder why.
It's surprising how an extremely rational being like me gets all sentimental when I got back.
We went straight to grandma and grandpa as soon as we got there. Ruby and I had a talk session with our cousin Kian Fu, and also played with the friendler "cat-izens" there. Then we checked in our hotel and sleep like pigs.
The first night was spent with the few friends left in KB - Noel and *drumroll* DR. CHUA (a.k.a. CLC Chua Lee Chee).
Hah! The 2 has not changed a bit since secondary school. Just that "Dr. Chua" had her hair dyed and now wears contact lenses. Noel appeared the whole like an exam zombie, complaining about his miserable life in Form 6. They said I got skinnier when in fact I gained weight urgh. We talked like crazy from 6.30pm to 10pm. It amazed me how we have not turned alien to each other after so long of a time and the separated paths we have taken. Bottom line, I miss our time.
The next day, as scheduled I visited Jane for a haircut. And look! I've never trusted any hairdresser other than her and she proved me right!
It's a lot shorter now, doesn't get stuck anymore when I'm sleeping. She knows me and my hair best and she did it just the way I wanted it to be. She also upgraded Ruby's poodle to lioness. lol.
Food in KB is as gooood as ever! (Oh yeah, and the air too. The skin felt it immediately.)
Lunch was taken at a roadside Malay restaurant where they serve a wide range of Malay food alongside desserts.
This place is darn good. We ordered percik and I gave them a thumb up. The whole family practically stopped talking to eat.
Then the desserts, we had bread pudding, custard pudding and caramel pudding. All for RM2 each!
And I can't believe this! They actually tasted like... food from 5 star hotels omg. Trust my tongue... it doesn't lie a bit. Gonna organize an eating trip to Kelantan.
That was really a ship cheom man cheome ship cheom (10 out of 10).
My cousin Mei Jiun and I. She's the most hardworking person whom I look up to.
My adorable Japanese niece Yumi and I. She's now AJK of the Chinese Orchestra in CC omigosh. She plays the flute.
We finally landed on the wedding dinner some time after a few rounds of visiting to relatives' places.
The bridegroom... is a relative and was actually my tuition-mate. Surprisingly he remembered me whilst I remember only his name lol. He even remembered that I had gone for 3 years.
We met with Kian It, Kian Gan, Kian Fu and Yumi and sat at the same table.
Kian Gan playing hard to get while Kian It showed full cooperation for photoshooting. Poor It got his hair cut for NS, he has gotten super masculine now.
And Yumi helped me pushed Gan to face the camera. It still posing.
At last a decent one (with Gan's eyes closed) after a moment of struggle lol.
Apparently we were sitting at the "kids' table", somewhere 3 metres away from our parents' table where a few more random kids joined us. Actually they weren't random, just that sis and I don't know them. Pretty nice girls they were.
Well but the main issue of the night was... alcohol...
Think beer, whiskey, wine... and children... It was Yumi's first and she didn't know how to drink. But the gutsy sagittarius went all excited and drank quickly, trying to avoid being seen by her grandma and ended up like It - vomitting. And she had class the next day. Uh oh her grandma's gonna kill me for being a bad influence (but I tried to stop her!).
I poured chinese tea into the wine glass and surprisingly it looked exactly the same like beer. Then I tricked a few uncles into drinking all out with me without them realizing. lol. That was a nice trick.

Yumi and I. She's the whole package of Malaysian look now.

Kian Fu and I. I look like his sister, don't I? XD~!

Mohammad Ali's daughter. That's what I heard. A very cheerful girl.

I don't know who she is but I'm pretty sure she's the daughter of someone somewhat close to my parents.
Yumi and I again. She's just too cute and we're so close. My personal Japanese language tutor ahah!
Food that night was... kinda unexpected for a hotel that prestigious in Kelantan. I won't complain though. We only paid an angpao for that. I didn't eat much because the menu didn't match my appetite. lol. I'm picky. Still, it was the atmosphere we went for, not so the food. But to be honest, the roadside percik beats them flat.
Like I said, the night ended with the adults' photo session and people vomitting. But I'm not gonna post pictures of my mum, dad and other relatives because it's boring.
The next day we paid a last visit to grandma and grandpa and bye bye to Kelantan.
I had a good time. Still, I won't say I love Kelantan. The good memories come with the bad. But I'll probably miss that place too, somehow.
